In 2012, fueled by our founder's passion and a partnership with coffee expert, Sasa Sestic of ONA coffee, Espresso Room was born with the aim to revolutionise the coffee scene. Our inaugural outlet, a modest space in a busy mall opposite a major coffee chain, showcased our commitment to quality over 'average' coffee standards.
Thanks to our belief in premium coffee and excellent service, we rapidly expanded to 10 locations in Canberra and Brisbane. This growth was accompanied by recognition from leading platforms like The Qantas Magazine and Sydney Weekender, applauding our service and coffee.
Espresso Room isn't just a café; it's our pledge to elevate the industry and cater to Australia's sophisticated coffee palette.

With a commitment to delivering unparalleled specialty coffee, we have a long-standing relationship with Canberra's esteemed ONA Coffee.
Recognised for their dedication to producing the finest, sustainable coffee, ONA is steered by the 2015 World Barista Champion, Sasa Sestic. Their initiative, Project Origin, sustainably collaborates with global community farmers for green beans.
Our partnership with ONA aims not just to serve coffee but to reshape perceptions about what exceptional coffee truly entails.

By aligning with Ona, who champion sustainable coffee cultivation and directly sourcing beans, supporting local purchases, and advancing waste recycling, we're continually pushing boundaries to diminish our environmental footprint and amplify our social responsibility.
One of our pivotal steps forward is the commitment to eliminate the use of unrecyclable cups and plastic lids in our stores. Our stores are working towards all of our locations to use Truly Eco® cups and lids. These aren't crafted from traditional PE or PLA but an Aqueous coated material. As a testament to our steadfast dedication to sustainability, both the cups and lids are certified compostable and recyclable.

Our passion extends beyond just serving exceptional coffee; it's about giving back to those who've dedicated their lives to serve our nation. We're proud supporters of the Soldier On charity, a remarkable not-for-profit dedicated to aiding Australian Defence Force personnel transition meaningfully into civilian life.
In our Defence locations, every time a customer chooses to use a 'Keep Cup', we ensure that the savings go directly to this noble cause. This initiative is more than just a gesture; it's an embodiment of our values.
Since 2020, thanks to our amazing customers, Espresso Room has proudly contributed over $20,000 to Soldier On, and the numbers keep rising. It's our way of saying thank you, one cup at a time.
